Bruce Larsen, VL ’58

Bruce Osborn Larsen, 82, of Point Pleasant, passed away Wednesday, November 28, 2018.

Born in Elizabeth to the late Helmut and Irene (Osborn) Larsen, he was raised in Cranford and lived in Freehold before moving to Point Pleasant.

Bruce was an alumni of Lehigh University (B.S./B.A. Metallurgical Engineering) and member of the Kappa Alpha Society; Stevens Institute of Technology (M.S./Ph.D. Mathematics); and Georgian Court College, (M.A. Counseling.) He served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam era and was discharged as a Captain. For most of his career, Bruce worked for AT&T/Bell Labs at different sites in New Jersey on projects that were the prototypes for today’s communication explosion.

Among his many achievements in retirement, Bruce was a Master Gardener of Ocean County; Meridian Hospice volunteer; and served on the Board of Trustees of CPS Behavioral Health.

He was predeceased by his first wife, Carol Russell Larsen. Bruce leaves behind his beloved wife and fellow traveler, Susan Blair-Larsen; son, Mark Larsen; daughter, Karen Larsen; sisters, Lynn Hahm and Laura Larsen; brother, Richard Larsen; and many nieces and nephews.
